4th of July Parade
Time to get our ducks in a row for the holiday. For many years, Conover’s parade could be missed if a guy blinked. We were happy to have many folks participate in 2011 – let’s do it up even better this year!
The theme is “America’s Unsung Heroes”
Let’s honor the folks who unselfishly serve in any capacity – first and foremost, our Armed Forces, police, EMTs, firemen, etc. Or consider the folks who continue to plug along behind the scenes making it happen in Conover – most times without thanks or recognition. This ought to be easy, for there are many hard-working folks out there!
So let’s rev up the enthusiasm and get a float together for the best ever Conover 4th of July parade. The more the merrier!
Let’s have some competition for the prizes: $150 for first, $100 for second, and $75 for third. A float need not be elaborate or terribly time-consuming – streamers, flags, etc., on your trailer honoring your selected “hero”. . . war hero, religious person, movie star, politician, Rin Tin Tin – you get the idea.
The good news is, so far we have the VFW color guard and the NPHS band on board. Currently trying to recruit the Leinie Guys and ER Shriners, both participated last year and it was a hoot!
The holiday is prime up-north time for part-time residents as well as vacationers. What better way to advertise your business? Pretty inexpensive advertising, don’t you think? Pick up some streamers, crepe paper, some flags, and jump on a decorated wagon (or truck, or bike, or boat, or trike, or ATV) in Conover’s all-time best parade!
