COMMUNITY EMERGENCY SERVICES Conover, along with all of Vilas County, is under the 911 Emergency System. A call to 911 can access the Vilas County Sheriff, the Conover Volunteer Fire Department, and the Northwoods Ambulance Service. The Conover Volunteer Fire Department, led by Chief Gary Vold, has 24 volunteer firemen. Services offered include Fire & Rescue, Snowmobile Trail Rescue, Structure & Wild Fire Response, and Commercial Property Fire Prevention Inspections. The Department also offers Fire Prevention Presentations in the local schools. For more information, contact Chief Gary Vold at 715-479-4881. Conover purchased a new ambulance in July 2001. The ambulance service is operated by volunteer Certified EMT's on call 24 hours a day. The ambulance service is under management of Eagle River Memorial Hospital.
